Canadian Forces recruit school instructor charged with sex assault

The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service charged a master corporal in the Canadian military with sexual assault under the Criminal Code, as well as related offences under the National Defence Act.


The charges were laid Oct. 13.

They relate to an alleged incident in December 2016 at a restaurant in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, involving an instructor and student from the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School located at the Saint-Jean Garrison, according to the NIS.

MCpl Pierre Desrosiers, a staff member at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School, faces the following charges:

- one count of Sexual Assault under section 271 of the Criminal Code,punishable under section 130 of the National Defence Act;

- one count of Drunkenness, punishable under section 97 of the National Defence Act; and

- two counts of Conduct to the Prejudice of Good Order and Discipline, punishable under section 129 of theNational Defence Act.

The charges have not been tested in a court of law.
