Statement from Hon. Lawrence MacAulay
LAWRENCE MACAULAY·FRIDAY, MARCH 1, 2019
LAWRENCE MACAULAY·FRIDAY, MARCH 1, 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 1st, 2019
Ottawa, ON
“It is a great honour for me to return to a role that I cherished so much when I had the great fortune to serve as Secretary of State for Veterans Affairs. There is no greater honour in Canadian public life than serving the veterans of this country who made Canada what it is today - a country where someone like me, a farmer from rural Prince Edward Island - can have the opportunity to serve in the federal Cabinet.
I want our veterans know that I’m ready to get to work, that my door is always open, and that it is one of the greatest honours in our country’s public life to serve Canadian veterans at the Cabinet table.
In the coming days and weeks, I look forward to getting briefed by my officials, sitting down with veterans across the country to hear your concerns, and getting to work on your behalf.
As a country, I know that we have a sacred obligation to our veterans and I will work alongside you to help improve the issues you are facing, and to always honour your service and sacrifice to our great country.
Being a farmer, I want to say that it has been a real pleasure serving the interests of Canadian agriculture and farmers across Canada for the past three years. Together, we accomplished a lot of great things that I am deeply proud of and the future is bright for Canadian agriculture! I know that Minister Bibeau truly cares about farmers and agriculture and you will be extremely well-served with her leadership.
I also want to sincerely thank the Prime Minister for the opportunity to serve as Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food these past three years and for his continued faith and support in extending the opportunity to serve our veterans.”
Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, P.C., M.P.
Member of Parliament for Cardigan
Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence

My time at Veterans Affairs was one I’ve always cherished – I’m honoured to be back, and humbled to have the chance to work with our veterans and the staff that provide vital services, everyday. Thank you to all the staff in Charlottetown for a warm welcome.

This morning, Leah showed me some of the improvements being made to the processing of disability benefits.
We know more work still remains - but, it's inspiring to see how hard the staff work to provide veterans and their families with the benefits they deserve.

This morning, I had the chance to meet with Veterans Affairs Canada staff in Ottawa - I'm looking forward to working with them to provide vitally important services to more than 9,000 veterans and their families in the area.

All smiles yesterday.
Great to hear from so many Veterans about their service and the good care they’re receiving at Perley Rideau!

BS great publicity why don’t you get into contact with veterans that have been waiting bull shit wait times for there pensions that they deserve but still continue to wait outrageous times thus putting a huge strain on there families and not only that the mental stress we endure is truly torture of the mind and sole got to love how you keep showing all the good all the big fracken smiles knowing we have men and women who serve there country proudly struggling to put food on the table because of wait times all I ask is that when all of you cronies retire from your cushie ass jobs and get your big fat pensions you wait over a year before you take one fracken cent and truly know what veterans feel JUST MY OPINION SICK AND TIRED OF ALL THE PR CRAP

We have so much to be proud of when it comes to our military.
Great tour of CFB Edmonton yesterday and thanks to the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) and 1 Service Battalion for showing me all that you do

Looks like he is still touring the military bases. Nothing with veterans.
Well done. Why don't you just retire ... or be voted out like the rest of you next election.

“It’s a despicable act, taking something from the most vulnerable members of society — our handicapped, our veterans and our elderly.”
Canadians are better than this. I hope the community of Roxboro can help their local The Royal Canadian Legion - National Headquarters. Frank Baylis

As I said before, 'touring' the world at taxpayers expense before he is turfed in October. How much is he raking in 'looking after Canadian Veterans'? about 500K?

As we get set for our provincial election, I want to wish the PEI Liberals, and all candidates running, a great campaign - putting your name up for public office is a big decision, and I know that Islanders appreciate your courage and enthusiasm! #peipoli

Canada’s veterans are some of the best trained individuals in the world.
Great to chat today with Helmets to Hardhats about how they're using that training to help veterans find a career in the trades.
