Re: Canada Day
On Canada Day, Newfoundlanders also observe "Memorial Day" to remember the brave and those we lost in World War One.

Re: Canada Day
Always proud to be a Canadian. Canada day to me is a time to celebrate our Country. What I'm not proud of is the way this government, and the previous failed to bring back the pension act for disabled Veterans. When I see our leader thank our Men & Women in uniform today I cannot believe him. I cannot be proud having this man lead our Country. There is a miss-guided process regarding the benefits in place for disabled Veterans in this Country. The process may look like progress or even suitable for disabled Veterans. A process that is controlled by the deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs which within this process of legislated benefits for disabled Veterans fails to meet the merits of the pre 2006 process/system in place for disabled Veterans. This is where the problem lies, not with one or more legislated acts within the Veterans file, but with the whole file in general. On this day, Canada Day we have disabled Veterans in wheel chairs missing limbs, disabled Veterans with all sorts of medical conditions who all are forced to take the benefits put forward by our government, a government who allowed this current benefit system to fall way short of the previous 2006 system. This hurts anyone who understands this be it a Veteran, or any Canadian citizen. The average citizen in this Country only understands what the government puts out for all to see. It has become the natural for any politician, from any party to accept what the deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs brings forward. This is where were at with reference to benefits for disabled Veterans in this Country. It is quite simple, and is fact that our governments have allowed today's system to be much inferior than the system pre 2006 (Pension Act). So today I am proud to be a Canadian, not because of those who lead our Country, but because of those disabled Veterans from coast to coast who sacrificed it all for Canada! These disabled Veterans in my view are the spotlight of Canada Day. So for me, it is Canada's Disabled Veterans who inspire me to try and bring all of the injustice brought upon disabled Veterans in this Country, by our present, and previous government. Even though these politicians believe they are doing everything in their power for disabled Veterans in this Country, they are doing everything for the deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs, and not a dam thing for Veterans. (Bring back the Pension Act)
