Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs, Sherry Romanado, today announced new spending of $6 million per year to modernize services programs for military families and provide better support to these families.

Modernization and support of building projects are part of the vast overall plan for military families exposed in Canadian defense policy, protection, security, commitment to improve the support and services, and thereby improve the family life of members of the Canadian armed Forces and their families.

The announcement took place at the Resource Centre for the Military Families in Winnipeg.

Romanado met with caregivers and families of the military, and she was able to see firsthand how the new funds invested will benefit these families. The planned investments, in particular, will extend the opening hours of childcare, to expand youth programs and provide additional mental health services in addition to other enhanced services.
