Canada's Veterans Ombudsman - May 28, 2019
Veterans Ombudsman Craig Dalton met delegates at the Royal Canadian Legion’s 58th Quebec Provincial Command Convention, hearing about their needs and challenges while sharing the @VeteransOmbudsman’s priorities. Connecting to veterans, organizations, and families supports the @VeteransOmbudsman to better advocate for fairness on the matters impacting veterans now. Mr. Dalton, escorted by Quebec Command Vice-President Mike Fitzgerald, was also honoured to place a wreath at the cenotaph. Canada's Veterans Ombudsman - June 26, 2019
Aspects of military service can have stressors that impact the lives of Veterans and their family members at various points on their journey. Canada's Veterans Ombudsman's recommendation to expand access to mental health programs to any member of the Veteran’s family, when they need it, honours the unique service of military families.

VAC’s long term care programs are too complex, hard to navigate, and access is inequitable. Canada’s Veterans deserve fair and transparent access to the supports they need. We will monitor VAC’s uptake of our Office’s Health Care and Support recommendations that call for improved care as Veterans age. https://www.ombudsman-veterans.gc.ca/…/2019-report-c…/health

Canada's Veterans Ombudsman - July 23, 2019
Mr. Joseph Paquette received a Veterans Ombudsman Commendation for Lifetime Contribution this week from Craig Dalton at the Credit River Métis Community office in Brampton. Mr. Paquette is President of the Métis Nation of Ontario Veterans Council and a member of the Aboriginal Veterans Autochtones. Mr. Paquette served with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment and the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada and has actively promoted his Métis heritage and the contributions of his fellow Métis veterans locally, provincially and nationally. We salute Mr. Paquette for his continued leadership and advocacy on behalf of Veterans and their families. Canada's Veterans Ombudsman expects to honour more 2019 Commendation recipients this Fall. All recipients are selected for their exceptional dedication, hard work and selfless motivation of either an individual or group's contribution to Canada's Veterans and their families.

This week, we were honoured to attend the Ceremony of Remembrance held in the Senate Chamber on Parliament Hill. The white orchids in the wreath symbolize the gallantry of service and sacrifice, while the cluster of red roses are a sign of eternal respect and thankfulness of a grateful Canada. #CanadaRemembers
