When the government of Canada took away the pension act, this is where the problem started, and remains the main problem today. You can twist it which ever way you please. At the end of the day taking away the pension act has created the problems we have seen, and the problems we continue to see moving forward. It's not about programs and services that is fulling dislike. It's totally about taking away our lifelong financial security for the disabled Veterans. We live in a Country where programs and services are available to all Canadians, including Veterans. To say these programs and services that replaced the pension act have some positive aspects within today's system should never be linked to anything above the merits of the pension act. Look at the facts in front of us as to when we started seeing major problems within the Veterans file. Ask yourself this? With all of these programs and services? How many of these Veterans are disabled? And how many of these Veterans were medically released from service? What is the dollar figure that comes from the Veterans file and goes directly to non-injured Veterans? Why are disabled Veterans not given the choice between the pension act, and today's system? You can have all the consultations, inquiries, speak to Veterans and advocates until your blue in the face. Until you recognize it is the pension act that needs to be reinstated, the problem will never be fixed! Never!

So does anyone remember that saying...

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome."

Correct me if I'm wrong here but wasn't there 6 Advisory Groups created 3 years ago by Trudeau who's focus was to report exactly what Dalton wants to see? Yes there was and VAC and Trudeau both ignored EVERY recommendation made by these advisory groups.

Wasn't there a court case, what was it called? Oh yeah Equitas. The purpose of this court case was to prove veterans were not being treated fairly.

Didn't a former MVA in a wheelchair rack up the air miles by going coast to coast to coast announcing the grand re-opening of 9 district offices and hiring back employees to take care of veterans and their applications.

And last but not least wasn't there already consultations with veteran groups and non-veteran groups in 3 meetings done by the former guy in the wheelchair mentioned above?

NATIONAL INQUIRY not CONSULTATIONS is what the veterans file needs!!!!!

Man is this Lionel Desmond INQUIRY in Nova Scotia scaring VAC and the federal gov't.

Yes the 6 advisory groups created under Hehr. Same Idea as the creation of the Ombudsman position. You know me I have measured these groups, stakeholder summits years ago down to being a huge public relation gift to the government. Am I right? Well the sooner we learn that the government is not on our side, the sooner we can try to unite as a team, just like our opponent the government who works very well together trying to sell services and programs over the pension act system.

The government is not our friend. The Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs Canada runs in full the Veterans file. And since 2006 no one has even come close to making even a small dent to influence the government on the Veterans file.

... too bad VIA rail offers such skimpy service. It's still cheaper to fly on any air carrier, without a discount at all. What a joke rail service is! VIA does not even operate through the central or southern part of Alberta or BC. You have to be in Edmonton to catch the David Thompson (Yellowhead) route... now that Greyhound has pulled their bus service, there are pretty much zero methods for ground tranpsort anywhere in the West

I have a CF1 card, it is useful. HOWEVER, like many things in the Canadian Defence world, the issue of ID is FUBAR! Veteran's Service ID card, CF1, ND75, NDI75.... totally typical Canadian clusterf&%$

No one has control and no one knows what to do, what should be done or how to do it.

Veterans Independence Program

The Veterans Independence Program provides funding for services such as grounds maintenance, housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care, and professional health and support services.

This program does not replace other federal, provincial or municipal programs. Instead, it is intended to work with those programs to help meet your needs.

Note: If you think you may have a need for these services, be sure to complete the Veterans Independence Program application at the same time as your Pain and Suffering Compensation application. If approved, this will allow you to access support at the earliest possible date.
