Speaking of waste and shortcuts, everyone knew the Harper era plan to offer retiring veterans up to $1,000 to help with resumé writing and job placement was inadequate, but how useless was anyone’s guess. Now, a recent audit of the program showed that only 335 veterans even bothered to apply for the program and only 40 ever got paid. Veterans advocate Sean Bruyea called the results “shocking”.
