(VAC) COVID-19 INFO
Veterans Affairs Canada Posted March 16. 2020
As Canada’s Chief Human Resources Officer has advised, all Government of Canada employees are encouraged to work from home beginning Monday 16 March. As a result, Veterans Affairs Canada services will be impacted in the coming days as we transition to the essential services protocol.
As NCCN (call centre) services will be affected during this period, we ask that those with non-urgent questions call back at a later time to allow urgent files to be addressed.

This is very understandable.
But wonder what impact it will have on our wait times . . .

This week has been exceptional, and we have been adapting to critical COVID-19 public health measures. Here is what we are doing to ensure we are still able to serve you and your families:
- Reaching out to vulnerable Veterans who may need extra support, via our case managers and Veteran service agents, who are working from home.
- Making sure our most critical services can be supported by staff from home.
- Encouraging you to reach out to us through My VAC Account online secure message, or by telephone instead of visiting offices.

Like you, we are concerned about the impact that COVID-19 may have on wait times for disability benefit claims. We are prioritizing this work, ensuring staff have the tools and technology to keep working on your claims.

At this point, the majority of our employees are working from their homes as we adapt to #COVID19. This is enabling us to continue answering your calls, responding to your secure messages, making decisions on urgent disability claims, and issuing payments. We appreciate your patience as we focus on our most critical services. #StayAtHome

Message From the Minister
Message From the Minister
To our Veterans:
As we all grapple with the realities of COVID-19, I want you to know that Veterans Affairs Canada employees are continuing to work every day to serve you and your families.
The last few weeks have certainly presented our team with a new set of challenges, but we adapted as quickly as possible to what is, for the time being, our new normal.
Most of our employees are now working remotely, where they are answering your calls, responding to your secure messages, making decisions on urgent disability claims, and issuing payments. They’re doing this as best they can, and as the days go by, we’ll continue to speed up these processes.
If we can help with anything, please reach out by phone or through your My VAC Account. These are difficult times for everyone, and if you need us, we will do everything we can to provide you with the support you need.
Of course, we’ll continue to update our website and social media channels with the latest information, and I encourage you to check back often.
And before I close, I just want to remind everyone to please stay at home if you can — it’s important in keeping not just yourself healthy, but in keeping your friends, your family, and your community healthy, as well.
Keep listening to the experts, and keep looking out for each other. We’ll get through this together.

Important benefits and services for Veterans are not interrupted due to COVID-19. When it comes to cannabis for medical purposes, requests are still being processed and options exist if your medical authorization has—or will be—expiring. For more information, visit http://ow.ly/J3z850zFgoZ

In light of COVID-19, we have adjusted our Treatment Benefits program to cover personal protective equipment (PPE). If you need to wear PPE such as non-medical masks and gloves to access your health treatments, you may be covered.
