Canada's Veterans Ombudsman Nov 26. 2019

We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2019 Veterans Ombudsman Commendation: Ken Reimer, Patrice Bergeron, Joseph Paquette, Luc O’Bomsawin, Richard Nicholson, Wounded Warriors Canada, and the Great War Centenary Association.

We will be honouring these individuals and organizations for their selfless commitment and contribution to Canada's Veterans and their families at a special ceremony today in Ottawa.

Meet the 2020 Veterans Ombudsman Commendation recipients! Retired Leading Seaman Marie-Claude Gagnon was nominated for her work helping Veterans impacted by Military Sexual Trauma (MST). Marie-Claude is the founder and leader of It’s Just 700, a social network that connects and supports Veterans suffering from MST. Marie-Claude and her work can be credited for creating public awareness about the issue and activating positive systemic change in the Canadian military. Congratulations Marie-Claude. Thank you for all you do.

Canada's Veterans Ombudsman Nov 20. 2020

Captain (Ret’d) Robert Thibeau is a 2020 Veterans Ombudsman Commendation recipient in the Lifetime Achievement Category. Robert, who served for almost 38 years is a well-respected and valued leader in the Aboriginal Veterans’ community and has been heavily involved with Indigenous programs within the military. Robert is also involved in numerous activities related to the well-being of all Veterans, and he acts as a representative for Aboriginal Veterans across the country, as a founding member and the president of the Aboriginal Veterans Autochtones. Congratulations Robert, and thank you for all the work on behalf of Canadian Veterans!

Canada's Veterans Ombudsman Nov 20. 2020

Wolf Solkin is a 97 year old WWII Veteran and the president of the Veterans Committee at Ste. Anne’s hospital where he resides. Noticing a deterioration in services at the hospital, Wolf, filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of more than 150 Veterans and their families. He also advocates for Veterans of all ages across Canada, through his letter writing campaigns and social media activity. Thank you Wolf, for your life-long dedication to helping Veterans.
