Re: Left owing thousands in back taxes, an Alberta veteran calls for federal changes
This issue has been on VAC's radar for over a decade and they have done absolutely nothing!
Why?
A toxic issue that involves too many gov't departments, provincial workman comp programs and insurance companies. Not to mention the responsibility of defining disabled would fall on the Minister of Health's shoulders.
If you want to see a bureaucrat cringe in fear bring this topic up. It's hilarious and sad at the same time.
If there was a universal definition of disabled in Canada do you know how many people in federal, provincial gov't would lose their job? Thousands!
The tax code would have to change at all levels of gov't from municipal to federal. Not to mention how many charities would cease to exist as their services and financial aid would no longer be needed because of the new tax rules.
This is an issue that would need years to figure out not to mention it would take nearly a decade to get implemented.
