Transitioning into life after service requires a significant mind-shift. With funding from the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund, A New Dynamic Enterprise Inc. (ANDE) will implement Transitions Lifeshop to help Veterans learn strategies to overcome psychosocial challenges commonly experienced in life after service. Learn about ANDE and the work it’s doing.

Veterans Affairs Canada April 11, 2019

Veterans who experience homelessness may show early signs of at-risk behaviour that go undetected. Canadians can all do their part to support vulnerable Veterans in our social circles by gaining awareness of key at-risk indicators, like extensive self-medicating with alcohol and drugs, financial challenges and unmet mental health needs.

The RESPECT Campaign is a 2018 Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund recipient that will hold biannual awareness forums in 11 or more Canadian cities to shine light on the problem of Veteran homelessness.

Today, Minister MacAulay met with representatives of the Canadian Women’s Wellness Initiative and the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, recipients of 2019 Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund. Veterans Affairs Canada - Sept 4, 2019

Serene View Ranch, which provides evidence-based and trauma-informed mental health and related health services, has received funding from the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund. With the funding received, it will pilot new treatment approaches involving individual Veterans and couples and renovate its premises for group programming.

Today, Minister Lawrence MacAulay met with representatives of Good Shepherd Refuge Social Ministries to announce funding through the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund to support homeless and at-risk Veterans find housing, develop support networks and manage their health.

VETS Canada’s Guitars for VETS, Canada program matches Veterans and still-serving CAF members suffering from PTSD or other service-related disabilities with gently-used guitars and online/volunteer lessons.

They received $500,000 from the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund to support this program.

Dalhousie University’s The Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security is exploring how exposure to child soldiers can affect the mental health of Veterans and military members.

This research will be used to develop supports for serving military, Veterans and their families who suffer negative effects from witnessing child soldiers.

This important work is possible through the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund.

Do you know an organization that improves the well-being of Veterans and their families? They may qualify for funding. We are now accepting applications for the Veteran and Family Well Being Fund.

Starting this year, Budget 2021 is providing an additional $15 million over the next three years to the Veteran and Family Well Being Fund. This investment will support projects that address the needs of Veterans during the post-COVID 19 recovery.
Deadline to apply is 1 October 2021.

Additional consideration will be given to projects that look to support equity seeking groups, including those that serve women and LGBTQ2+ Veterans.
