For medically-releasing CAF members and their families, transitioning to life after service can be socially, emotionally and financially challenging.

To help you navigate the process, a coordinator from the Veteran Family Program can help identify your family needs and connect you to the right resources.

Being the child in a military or Veteran family isn’t always easy.
If you need support or a safe place to talk, the @CanadianForcesMorale&WelfareServices-CFMWS, @KidsHelpPhone and @LockheedMartin Canada have joined forces to provide the Crisis Text Line for you.

Text CAFKIDS to 686868 for support.

Grief may be easier to bear if you have support.

The HOPE program offers confidential peer support to help cope with the loss of a loved one.

HOPE peer volunteers understand the grieving process. They too, have lost a loved one. If you need support, they are there to listen, share their experiences, and provide coping strategies.

MCpl Travis Brown and his now wife Pway met shortly after he joined the military, so they knew that separations would be part of their marriage.

When Travis travels with the Canadian Armed Forces, Pway says she tries to distract the kids when they miss their dad.

“I just tell them, ‘Daddy will be home soon,’ and try to keep them as busy as I can.”

As we celebrate the #MonthOfTheMilitaryChild, let’s acknowledge and recognize the challenges and sacrifices faced by military families.
