Thanks for sharing, Cooper. I have spoken to members from across Canada and this story is VERY true. RCMP don't want anyone who has a 04 or 06 permanent medical profile in their organization. Unless he/she has some connection with Senior Management or is in the right "clique" to get their support in keeping their job.

The organization really needs an overhaul...possibly an outside agency to manage and monitor the health services and "duty to accomodate programs".

Out of the hundreds of Federal Government Agencies and Departments, it is very telling when you only here of these issues coming from within the RCMP and CAF every year.

That's right, every year we read or hear news stories about harassment, sexual misconduct, fraud, bullying, etc. etc. from both organizations

When will this government take action against those in leadership positions? Maybe its because both organizations do NOT have a union!

Obituary of Bruce Alexander Reid

It is with profound sadness that the family of RCMP Staff Sergeant, Bruce Alexander Reid, husband of Lori Wilson Reid, announce his passing which occurred on Friday, October 25, 2019. He was born in Saint John, son of the late Cecil and Frances (Wells) Reid.

Bruce’s passion was for his family and policing. He was extremely proud of his children, Lisa and Cameron. His contagious smile was even brighter when spending time with his granddaughter Sophia (Papa’s Doll), and he was thrilled to be expecting another grandchild. He adored his wife, Lori, and loved his step-children and step-grandchildren as his own. Bruce was dedicated to his career in policing but always looked forward most to his annual time spent cruising in the Caribbean with Lori. When not cruising, they enjoyed kayaking on the Hammond River and bird watching in their backyard.

Bruce’s interest in policing began in high school where he was a leader in the Operation Identification Program. He went on to have a 38 year career where he spent five years with the Saint John Police Force and 33 years with the RCMP. He had fond memories, friends and colleagues from each detachment where he served, including Prince George, Toronto, St. Catharines, Doaktown, Fredericton, Halifax, Souris, Sussex, and Saint John. As he rose through the ranks in the RCMP, he particularly cherished his time as Detachment Supervisor in Souris and Sussex.

Bruce loved sports and served as captain on most of his teams. He was named athlete of the year at KVHS and continued to excel in hockey, playing Junior A and Senior hockey in Saint John. He combined his love of sports and policing in 2010 when he had the opportunity to Police at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. When not playing sports, Bruce treasured his time at the Reid camp on the Belleisle Bay with friends and family.

Bruce had a great sense of humour and loved to joke around but was also compassionate, sensitive, and had a heart full of love and forgiveness. Though we miss him immensely, we know he is now at peace.

Bruce leaves behind his loving wife, Lori, daughter, Lisa Rouse (Colin), son, Cameron Reid (Kaitlyn Veitch), Halifax, step-daughters, Lacey Buckley (James), Caleigh Wilson (Andrew Kierstead), Julie Williams (Cody Nichols), grandchild, Sophia, and step-grandchildren, Kohan, Daliah, Evelyn and Maloa, brothers, Brian Reid, Brock Reid (Barbara), and sister, Brenda Goobie (Leonard) all of Hampton, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, Saint John Police Force, the RCMP and all First Responders.

Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 2-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 31 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 11am. For those wishing to make a donation in celebration of Bruce’s life, contributions can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick or Bobby’s Hospice.

Ironman, thanks for sharing. We are continuing to loose officers to ptsd.  Just a couple weeks ago an RCMP employee in Newfoundland lost ptsd battle to suicide. And Saturday past, we lost another rcmp  officer/ former combat engineer living in Ottawa to ptsd.  So sad this time of year.

Thanks for this video. Newf

If you are applying for disability benefits for more than one condition, you do not need to submit separate applications. Your best choice is to complete a separate “Section F – Tell us about your condition” for each condition. More info on applying here: http://ow.ly/Somr50xrHbd

RCMP – We will get a copy of your health records and service file directly from the RCMP. Before we can do that, you need to complete the Consent for VAC to collect personal information from third parties (VAC928). On the form, you can select, ‘My complete file’ to allow the release of both your service and your medical files. If you choose ‘specific information only’, you need to indicate the name of each report. Include any specific instructions if you want to apply limits on how your records are shared with VAC.

Former Mountie Murray Brown kept a photo of homicide victim Judy Parks in his wallet for years, alongside pictures of his own daughters. The horrors Brown saw on the job and Parks's killer never being found have left him with PTSD. (N.S. Department of Justice, Yvonne Colbert/CBC)
